Faux Painting Website - How to Start a Website
Posted by: Debra Conrad in Building Your Own Website
Why do you need a website? Faux Painting Business owners often overlook the obvious in marketing their business.
Many prospective clients aren't ready to call you directly. They have seen your work in one place or heard of you through other clients, but a client needs to trust you and your work.
Think about how you feel when hiring a professional to work in your home. Do you go to the yellow pages and pick the first plumber or tile installer in the list? I avoid the yellow pages, and get my recommendations from friends and neighbors. I want to find out if the work was done well and on time. Always go and look at work the professional has finished and look for imperfections or unfinished areas.
Now… what if that professional had a website with pictures of finished jobs and testimonials from happy customers? Wouldn't that be easier to look for quality and versatility from this pro? The website would show off all this companies talents, and you will see work they have completed that you may not have known they could install?
But… you might be thinking 'isn't it hard to learn how to build a website and isn't it expensive?’ You are so wrong if you think along those lines. A website is easy to set up and maintain and the expense isn't high especially if you offset the cost with the increased income.
I started my first website a few years ago… and quickly learned it was -in fact- a boring… tedious job. I picked the wrong topic, the wrong hosting company and many other wrongs. My biggest mistake was - NOT using a Blog - for my website format.
Have you heard of a blog or blogging? Do you think it is for kids to write to their friends? Do you think it's a fad and not professional? Wrong again. It is the easiest way to build a professional looking website on the planet, well… unless you hire someone to do it for you.
Blogs are just a - content management system - that lets you design a website that is easy to control and update. The blogging system I prefer is Wordpress. The teacher I used to instruct me on setting up my first Wordpress Blog is GobalaKrishnan.com.
I didn't have Gobala as a personal coach, but I joined his Wordpress System. This system is for anyone who wants to set up Wordpress Blogs. He has a step by step, hand holding approach in his blogging tutorials. Learn at your own speed and help is just a few clicks away. Honest… he does a great job of getting you started with your first professional website.
